Presentation of the course

Learning Objectives

Lelio Mondella will present his course. The course will provide an overview of the Niche segment of the Luxury Food Business and will give its participants some genuine skills in Luxury Food Management, so that they can go on to better understand and access the world of Gourmet and Luxury Food Market and start operate as a professional in that field of activities. Participants will achieve familiarity with the culture and codes of that special niche understanding how a business function and key success factors to create and boost competitive advantage.
Course content
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the dynamics and functioning of Luxury food with a focus on Brand strategy and intangible assets values from a general mgmt. perspective. Application of the MBA tools in real cases focusing on Strategic Marketing as well as issue to translate brand concept and idea into operational actions, are investigated together with participants during the course.
Some real cases of Brand architecture, new market penetration and product’s portfolio innovation are analysed during the course in order to understand how important is to think with a clear vision and be focused on brand mission. Route to internationalisation and different sales channel management are analysed as key factors for Business development with a pragmatic approach.

The aim of the course is to increase the knowledge of international business and to develop an understanding, both in a theoretical and practical sense, of problems and phenomena related to internationalization and operating in foreign markets.
The module will cover aspects related to globalization, foreign direct investments (FDI), foreign market entry and the internationalization process of the firm. It elaborates on how firms encounter and chose to solve different managerial problems and how these relate to the strategy of the firm. A central issue in this context concerns the choice of entry market and form of establishment on the foreign market. Another key issues in the course concerns the role of knowledge and experience of managers and the characteristics of the surrounding markets with particular emphasis on the relevance on cultural differences. An increasing number of firms have activities spread around the world and a critical reflection on the impact from culture on their business activities is of vital importance.

Prof. Francesco Ciabuschi, Professor of International Business (Uppsala University)

Francesco Ciabuschi is a Professor of International Business at the Uppsala University, Department of Business Studies.

He is currently also serving as board member of the Uppsala Antibiotic Center. He has been Director of Research for the Department of Business Studies (2014-15); he has been coordinator of the NORD-IB PhD school of International Business (program with six international partner schools) during 2009-13. Ciabuschi is leading and member of many international research projects (including EU founded projects) and member of several international academic associations.

(1995-1998 and 2008-2012) and at INSEAD, Fontainebleau (1999 -2000). Sometimes consultant to the United Nation Development Program and the European Union for management training projects in Eastern Europe, Russia, Kirghizstan and Kazakhstan. She has been consulting to the industry on performance measurement systems design and implementation.

The speech will be about a program that involves China and the initiative 16+1 countries.
The 16+1 format is an initiative by the People’s Republic of China aimed at intensifying and expanding cooperation with 11 EU Member States and 5 Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia) in the fields of investments, transport, finance, science, education, and culture.

Dr. Marco ROMANI is Senior Advisor in Industrial Complex Development and Business Originator/Facilitator.

Dr. Romani possess professional experience covering design and calculation of process plant up to Contract development assistance & risk evaluation, Negotiations support, Claims analysis and Dispute resolution in uncomfortable law environment like as Middle East, Russian and Balkan Peninsula. Appointed as External Executive Director for Strategic Business Implementation, he is in charge to support the innovation and diversification in business processes and related infrastructure support network.
He is currently Advisor for world-class Oil & GAS and EPC Company.
Dr. Romani has also been strongly experienced into “Private Commercial diplomacy” assisting many Ambassadors based in Rome (Italy) during their mandate. Such specialized new type of diplomacy plays a significant role in global trade, investments and R&D activities.
