Strategic planning 2021–2024

Three priorities for USI’s next four-year term 2021-2024: consolidation, cohesion and service

Consolidation, cohesion and service are the words that sum up USI’s overall strategy as defined in the Planning for the period 2021-2024.
The document is the result of the joint work of about thirty members of the USI community at all levels, from collaborators to full professors, who were invited to share their ideas in the context of a project aimed at defining priorities for the University’s development. A cross-functional project involving the entire academic community and central bodies, including the Rectorate, the Management Board, the Academic Senate and the University Council. From today – following the press conference announced by the Canton to present the Cantonal University Policy 2021-2024 – the document is available online: https://www.usi.ch/sites/default/files/storage/attachments/document/pianificazione-strategica-21-24-0906-finale.pdf

Università della Svizzera italiana benefits from its unique geographical position, at the crossroads between Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, where Swiss identity meets Italian culture.
In this way, original perspectives can be cultivated by constantly searching for unexpected and paths. ( EMBA10: Roads to disruption)
USI is a frontier, a laboratory of synthesis and creative contamination.

Curiosity, the desire to experiment with new ways of thinking, learning, teaching and working are always welcome.

Digitalisation and sustainability will be the areas of focus in the educational, scientific and organizational context. In the next four years, USI intends to fully exploit the potential of its distinctive features.

Another guiding theme for the Faculty and Institutes is the digitalisation of markets and organizations, for private and public organizations and families.

The new edition of the Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA 10) which will start in the autumn of 2021 will be redesigned around the themes of artificial intelligence, big data and the digitalization of markets and organizations, so that managers from able to understand the impact of these challenges on the various business functions. This redesign re-positions the EMBA, differentiating it from similar products and making it more attractive on the international market.

The words consolidation, cohesion, and service summarize the general strategy of the four-year period 2021-2024.
