ERIK LARSEN

Prof. Erik Larsen previously held appointments at Cass Business School, University of Bologna, London Business School and Copenhagen Business School.

During the period 1996 -1998 he was an EU Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Bologna. He obtained his PhD from the Institute of Economics, Copenhagen Business School and his MSc from the Technical University of Denmark. He has taught a range of different courses in management, strategy and decision sciences at undergraduate, graduate (MBA) and PhD level. He has also taught executive programs at leading universities and companies, in systems thinking, system dynamics, strategy and energy deregulation (in Europe, North and South America and Africa). He has consulted for companies and governments in strategy, deregulation of utilities, and modelling. He has published widely in the areas of computational organizational theory and strategy, energy deregulation, and nonlinear dynamics. He won the Credit Suisse teaching award at USI in 2010.

Erik Larsen Curriculum

Erik is Professor of Management at University of Lugano (Switzerland). Erik previously held appointments at Cass Business School (London), University of Bologna, London Business School and Copenhagen Business School. During the period 1996-1998 he was an EU Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Bologna. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Institute of Economics, Copenhagen Business School and his M.Sc. from the Technical University of Denmark.

Erik has taught a range of different courses at undergraduate, master, MBA and PhD level, including strategy, entrepreneurship, simulation, systems thinking, operations management and decision making. He won the Credit Suisse teaching award at USI in 2010. Erik has extensive experience teaching executive programs, at leading universities and companies, in systems thinking, strategy and energy deregulation in Europe, Africa, North and South America. Examples include London Business School, McKinsey, Stern School of Business, NatWest Bank, Shell, EPM, PHCN, StattKraft. He has consulted for companies, international organizations and governments. Clients includes, Shell (London), ENI (Italy), McKinsey, Repsol (Argentina), Danish Ministry of Energy, World Bank, ISA (Colombia), Brown and Root (UK)

Erik’s research focus on organizational theory, complexity theory and energy deregulation, where he has published widely in academic journals such as Management Science, Organizational Science, Academy of Management Journal, Energy Policy, Utilities Policy, European Journal of Operational Research. He has also published books with Wiley and MIT-Press.
